I have the parts on hand already for my computer and are very close to going ahead and taking the plunge for water cooling.
Heres my rig:

Chieftech Dragon series case (pic attached)

OCZ Powerstream 520 SLI PSU
AMD Opteron 170
DFI LANParty UT SLI-DR Expert
2x1 GB pc4000 Mushkin Redline
Sapphire Radeon x1800XT

For water, So far this is what i have in mind...

Swiftech storm (cpu)
Swiftech MCW55 (gpu)
Swiftech MCP655 pump
Black Ice Xtreme III Triple 120mm Radiator
and of course tubing. I was planning to go 1/2" diameter with everything.

I know i need a radiator, but have read the swiftech mres was having troubles or was faulty or something. If needed Im sure I could build my own.

Thanks for any help

I have one more idea..one water loop for cpu, one water peltier for gpu ;) but thats not for this forum, and i think I would be in over my head.

why 7/16? just wondering...

and would it not work to be mounted to the top of the case?
i know what the physical differeces are between a bix2 and 3, but how much more does it help? I just knew it was said to be THE best.

If you want to be a show off like me...

but I know a very nice and neatly way to mod bottom of case with BIX3

Give me a PM and i'll try to draw you a diagram

7/16" tubing over 1/2" barbs makes for a more snug fit and tighter turning radii for your bends, not sure how well it will work with an MCW55.

I'm guessing when you said "I know I'm gonna need a radiator" you meant reservior, and no, you don't. The only reserviors I recommend are for submerged pumps, just stick with a T-line it is much simpler and has less likelyhood to leak.

I believe the BIX2 has room for a pair of 120mm, while the BIX3 has room for 3 120mms (someone correct me if I'm wrong.) With the BIX3 You could use quieter fans and get the same performance as the BIX2 with faster/louder fans.

Edit: Don't forget to use a shroud to eliminate the fan dead zones.

BIX3 shrouds? - fans blowing in - fans sucking through - and the testing done with shrouds wasn't but a 1 or 2 degee difference from the ones who has tested this from all that i have read - only heater cores modded will need a shround for no dead spots and certain single fan rads...

thats what everyone has told me the the test showed

as for mounting BIX3 in top - my Xaser has about 1/4" to maybe almost 1/2" left over if BIX3 is placed in top - thats beween top of ps and bottom of rad - - then the rad will be way up into yout top 5-1/4 bay - i'm not sure if you have to do any cutting to get it in there in top

this is just a rough example of bottom mod

3 120s in bottom of case (inside sucking in)
DD D5 pump in bottom hdd bay upside down with outlet directly into rad

rad under case in a nice angle polished aluminum frame for plexy glass sides

or painted white to match case

open back with dust filter

nice feet at each corner

thats where i would put it if you want to sorda hide it and it be seen neatly

here ya go - ultimate bottom mod for your case

with the radiator there whre would he keep his dirty laundry?

lol - what dirty laundry?

your not getting the picture i don't think

the BIX3 is in a moded framed box added under the original case

only the fans are inside on bottom

he has 2 hdd bays thats removeable - top one holds 3
he can mount pump in bottom hdd bay or remover bay and mount to front panel there

Hmm making a box to store it in seems like a lot of effort when he could just do what you've done and put it outside on top of the case which would be a lot easier. That's what I'd do anyway (Well hopefully will be doing next year sometime)

i was really refering to the questuion as where would he put it in there

but now this bottom box is my next project

polished aluminum framing under a aluminum case with plexy glass sides

i just think it would look awsome - i'll have to remove my bottom hdd bays on mine

Thanks for the awesome info everyone, It helps a LOT.

RDWest, great image..im very much a visual person so thanks haha.
The only thing I thought about when you compared to doing it from the bottom or the top would be, the fact if the fans are inside the case, the heated air would be blown back inside..and raise the ambient case temp. But if the fans were on top, blowing outside everything that heat would never enter the case thus keeping the temp lower. Im not sure how much heat the fans blowing insie the case would add, if its really relevant..just wondered if top mounting would not be the best option.

Thanks...im getting the itch to order, now gotta find something to build the container out of for the top/bottom mounted radiator.

BUMP from the past...MAJOR UPDATE

I cant explain why...but..FINALLY>>>..I have made time
and I finished the build last night!!!!

to recap...the computer

Chieftech Dragon series case
OCZ Powerstream 520 SLI PSU

AMD Opteron 170
DFI LANParty UT SLI-DR Expert
2x1 GB pc4000 Mushkin Redline
Sapphire Radeon x1900XTX

Coling Components
Swiftech storm (cpu)
Swiftech MCW50t (modded to 172w peltier) (gpu)
Laing pump
Black Ice Xtreme III Triple 120mm Radiator
all connected through 1/2" Tubing

Pics should be coming soon..So far I havent pushed it any more than what I had running stock,
250x10 2.5ghz CPU
and havent tapped the video card out yet but I do love the 7 degree idle temp

Any suggestions would be welcomed..im just excited I finally have had the time to finish this project!!

Time to push this thing to the max.

First off, I want a way to watch my CPU temp, used to use Motherboard monitor but belive it had issues with the DFI Expert board.

wow..so much to catch up on..

You could use Everest to monitor temps.. Much less evasive..
Good setup!!
