Hey im probably going to be investing in a new mobo/processor/gfx card and i was wondering if my 400 watt psu would be able to handle all the stuff...

I am planning on upgrading to a
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR

AMD 64 X2 4400+

And an eVGA Geforce 7800GT 256-P2-N516
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130256

will 400 watts be able to run this... with mabey some overclocking? right now its running a 3.0ghz intel northwood and a gigabyte mobo with an FX 5200.... i have had it up to 3.74 ghz with no shortage of power.... i kno it says a minimum of 450 but if i can run an intel 2.4 ghz northood with 2 hds a tv tuner / gfx card and 2 cd drives on a 200 watt psu :santa: ... i dunno

also a question on the graphics cards... why would someone pay 20 bucks more for the next model up on the EVGA line when all thats different is 10mhz on the gpu clock?

Brand and amperage on the power supply matter more than the wattage. Please tell us which model powersupply so we can help you.

As for the evga videocard, it is the extra clock and also, I think the stock heatsink is better on the more expensive version.

Don't get a PSU based on it's wattage, brand and ampage like he said are most important. For something like yours, I'd say get the OCZ Powerstream520 to be safe, it's around $120 for a great reliable PSU.

And for the eVGA card, I'd say the regular cheapest priced one would be the same as the next level up one, same heatsink and whatnot, only difference is they moved clock speed up, definitely not worth extra $50.
