I just formatted my comp for use with XP and it hardly overclocks compared to 98SE!!!! The multiplier works fine but the FSB wont O/C at all!!! If I push it 2 mhz over norm it gets a blue screen on boot up!
HAS ANYBODY ELSE EXPERIENCED A LOWER OC BECAUSE OF XP????
(:( What? Is that a penguin in the distance?:()
its probably more resouce intensive like windows 2k. i believe people get better overclocks with windows 95/98/me than 2k.

never heard of that, I run XP Pro have nbeen for a month and I am overclocked no probs whatsoever. Reformat and reinstall again, possibly install 98SE and do a upgrade.
I upgraded and system works great.
best luck

I dont think it is a matter of 98 OCing better than other OS's (NT based) But rather NT is a beter stability test.
CPU's that cant overclock as high in NT based OS's usaly were not 100% stable to begin with. Every CPU I have had has not lost any of its speed (highest overclock) when i switched to 2K from 98.
the program i use to test a CPU for staility can be foud here -> http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/programs/StabilityTest.exe <-
if you CPU can pass this test for 24 hours.... You shouldnt have any problems....
well at least that is what i have found to be true.
I've never thought of that I always thought XP and 2K would be better osing systems!
