View Full Version : onboard sound of audigy 2??
was jus wondering if it would be better if i use the optical out on my mb asus A8V Deluxe or to use the coaxial port on my audigy 2 card? its the digital out on the back of the card as i do not have the external front panel. thx in advance! :santa:
Generally speaking, I would opt for the Audigy2 as it is superior to on-board sound and use a tad less resources. The digital outputs are roughly the same and not an issue. I would suggest though, that you try them both and see with your own ears :) which is better as there is no hard and fast rule here.

could also run game benches with the different sound cards, one might provide better performance (probably the audigy)
ok thx, thats wot i was thinking. would it be possible to run 2 sound card simualtaneously (SP?) i dont mean together, for example use onboard optical for movies, but use the audigy 2's analogue for games and music?

You can switch them in audio settings, but I don't know of anyone who has configured two cards to work at the same time (outside of particular programs like virtual dj).
I use two different sound cards, but not in that way. You can only pick and choose when the software you are using allows you to do so. I use one card for Adobe Audition and Cool Edit Pro and the other for everything else. You can switch sound cards in your control panel, but you have to switch it manually each time you wanted to use a different card.
