I'm upgrading in a months time.
Does anyne have either of the following? What would be the fastest cruncher?
EPoX 8K7A (or 8KHA) with an AthlonXP1500
Abit KT7A with a 1.33 Athlon (266 FSB)
Both overclocked, of course.......;)
I've got 4 weeks or so to decide. Basically, stability and crunching speed is what I'm after, going to be running Win2K........

I can let you know about an Iwill KA-266 and an 1.4GHz Athlon. I am currently building that. I will get back to you with the avg. work unit times. It should be done once I get the replacement motherboard.

well I have the kt7a with a 1ghz axia oc'd to 1425 and I'm using the cli with the seti driver and was getting about 5hr 10 min wu times. I just joined the team yesterday so I'll see what my new average is in a couple of days. The only diff in my system is win xp so the times should be the same. I would imagine the times would be better with the athlon xp system.
edit: well I just checked my stats on the seti page, I finished 2 wu's with an average of 4hrs 46 mins. maybe win xp is actually helping. I guess we'll see .

Thanks dudes :D
RDD, I have the KT7A with a AXIA 1.2@1.475. (see sig) Since I went with the clc with the seti driver, I'm getting anywhere between 4hr 9mins(best) to 4hr 50min. Damn that first 15 hour wu, I didn't know what I was doing. I've read great things about the Epox too. I think on the Epxo, you don't have worry about your vcore maxing out at 1.85. Both should do you proud.

I have an epox8k7a+ with XP1800+, I average just under 3 hrs. My ka266plus with the 1.4birdie is just over 3 hours. The XP definately beats it, even if they are clocked the same.
Welcome to the team Gallowman!

Welcome to the team, Galloman!
I am running an Iwill KA266 with a tbird 1.4 not OCed atm. I get between 5.5 - 6.5hr /WU.
Killem what tweaks did you do int he bios to get that low? I cant get below 5.5 hours/WU and im running the CMD version with Seti Driver and Seti Spy.
Thanks

on my 1.56 machine (see sig), it ave. 'bout 4.3-4.7 hrs according to SETI Spy's result log. the 1.06 ave. 'bout 5.4-5.8 hrs/ WU. in contrast, the PIII 1000 ave. 'bout high 6hrs to mid 7hrs / WU!!
all my machines is running the CLC version w/ SETI Spy & SETI Drvier.

I finally got the 1.4GHz booted up. I have to get the network card in to dl seti. Then I will let you in on my times. I will also be getting a 1800XP online and will tell you those times too.
Landshark,
What MB are you using that tbird on?
I cant seem to get below 5.5 hours/WU on my Iwill Ka266

both of my T-bird are using Abit KT7a.
KT7A (no raid) on the 1.56G
KT7A-RAID on the 1066MHz
just re-check the log, the 1066Mhz T-bird ave. 'bout 5:10-5:40 depend on the AR's. but it's pretty fast consider my 1.56G T-bird is "only" a little less than an hour (45-55mins ave.) faster than the 1066MHz!!
and in contrast, the PIII sux, at least in the FPU (SETI performance)!! it take 'bout 6.8-7.5 hrs to finish a WU!! the T-bird w/ just 66MHz faster, it's more than an hour faster than the PIII!!! btw, the PIII's FSB actually is 1 MHz faster than the T-Bird!! so, FSB difference isn't exist.
AMD really rules ...................... at least in SETI world.....

are u running the CLC version? i think u do. may be try the memory setting and up the FSB lower the multiplier as much as u can. SETI love high FSB & fast memory!!;)
i can try to increase memory performance but im not used to DDR memory settins on the Iwill board.
ill try upping the fsb and lowering multiplyer too...
Yes i run the comand line version with seti driver and spy..

well, i'm not using DDR mobo yet.......got a KG7-RAID coming in thsi week...:D
i've seen others' memory timing on DDR is something like....8882222 (fastest) i need to learn that too....
but really, try the fastest timing w/ the highest FSB speed. that would eaily drop ur WU time 15-30+mins depending on ur original setting!!
