Upon Starting Windows 2000, I get a
"could not start because the following is either missing or corrupt: \winnt\system32\config\system"
I've tried repair in setup already. It keeps telling me I need Emergency Installation disks. I've also tried the console method, but I don't know what I need to do. Please help. Any input is appreciated

Update
Now I've gotten past that problem. Now my computer restarts right after it has finished starting up (Windows logo with blue bar at bottom)

I had your first error and found the only way to get working again was to reinstall.
1st your ERD is easy to create, takes about 1 min and would fix this for u, in the future just run ntbackup and follow inst, i would think that if u got this error from an OC that u backed down and tried to reboot,
here from your RC cmd try this (replace with back)
cd system32\config
ren system system.old
ren system.alt systemalt.old
cd \winnt\repair\regback
copy system \winnt\system32\config\*.*
Exit
or
if u are running NTFS you can try to clear out your hive, hope that is the problem and get back
from the RC cmd:
cd \winnt\system32\config
rename system system.org
copy system.org system
Exit
Sorry ,all that for the config error did not see second post, before posted this

Now It_The_Cow, what did we learn today? ALWAYS HAVE ERD's
