There's a small list of mods here:

Do you think it's possible to find all the parts for the xbox 360 and place them in a standerd xbox for cheaper than the xbox 360 price?

probably not, your best bet for getting an x360 is to just buy one whole. I'd wait a little while though as some x360 have an over heating issue

Throw a xp120 on there, or watercool.

I'd call that a mod.

I've seen a few people do water cooling on xbox-scene (im active in those forums) and it has been helping a lot. If you are going to water cool an x360 make sure you get the 1 or 3 year warrenty on it and it might take some effort to get some of the blocks to fit correctly.

Warranties don't help when you break the machine. Buying one for it would be a waste of money if that's the reason you're getting it.

Hey, according to MS the heatpipes in it already count as water cooling, so that'd be no mod! :p

Actually, it should be called phase change. But I don't know anyones who actually says they have something other than air cooling just because their heatsink has a heatpipe in it.

Forgive my earlier statement. I thought I was talking to an honest person.

It's the principle. It's like saying you only killed a couple citizens in a bombing compared to the entire population. I realize it's not the same thing, but it's the same concept.

In the case that it came factory defective (ie, overheating), it wouldn't be unethical to try to repair it. Look at it this way:

Case 1: Your 360 overheats, you return it, MS fixes it, you are happy.

Case 2: Your 360 overheats, you try to fix it, you mess up, you return it, MS fixes it, you are happy.

The only difference in case 2 is that if you do it right, you may actually be SAVING MS some money. If you mess it up, well hell, they would have been fixing it anyways.

It was just stupid for them to rush it. And I haven't heard of anyone's causing a fire. ;)

Just the CPU or GPU over heats and dies....it doesnt cause house fires....

It was rushed to get it out before the holiday season, i'd expect it to be running fine within the next couple of months... By the PS3 release i'd expect it to be about 100%
