View Full Version : Using a 72Watt Pelt on a 1.4 Athlon?
I have an old 72 watt peltier that I used on my p700 and I'm building a new comp using an Athlon 1.4 "y" core. Would I be doing more harm that help if I use that 72 watt peltier on it? I'm trying not to update my 300watt power supply and go the water cooling route.

I'm not sure that's a good idea. As it's only a 72 watt peltier, you can very well overload it with a 1.4. (Just from looking at Radiate to calculate...) I think if you want to use a peltier, you should at least have one which is rated 150% of the wattage that you are looking to get rid of, lest you want to make roast tbird.

A 72 would cause lot's of problems, if you managed to not burn things up. I have a 156 that works OK, a 172 is probably more "in-line". You are going to watercool, right?

I have a 300 watt atx and I'm using a 80 watt pelt and watercooling on my 1.1 T-bird and not yet overclocked and my cpu temp is only 9C and I think thats a great temp.
