What did you use for magnification?? I spent a good chunk of today looking for a magnifying glass, and the best I could find was 2.5x magnification....:(

What's the hot ticket for this?? Jeweler's loop?? What's an average price for one?

TIA! :)

Welcome to the "AMD" side.

I don't know what the power of the magnifying glass I use is, but it has a spot on the bottom that is like a "super" magnifier. That spot along with my bi-focals makes the L1 bridges look like the "Golden Gate Bridge". I just set the CPU up in a comfortable spot to work on it, usually inclined a bit, and make sure that I have a good bright light. A bit of contortionism(?) holding the magnifier while manipulating a straight pin with defogger paint is required though.

Good Luck!

Jensen and Technitool both sell B&L watchmakers loupes. They are available in 5x, 7x, or 10x for around $11.00. I have the 5x and 10x at home. At work, I have a stereo zoom (7-30x) viewer that these old eyes would be lost without.

If I were to go looking for one of these locally, where would be a good place to start? Jewelry store? Watch repair store?

I've been wondering this as well. Only, I would need a good online store since i live in a small town and i don't have a good selection. Any help is highly appreciated :)

For local access, I'd probably start at Radio Shack. For on-line, try Jensen at:

Does Intel still sell that CCD microscope? The one that connects to your PC via USB and displays on the monitor? I think that it used to sell for $99. I was wondering how that might work...

hobby shops........real models need good mag/light setups.

can't believe I'm helping this traitor!

you can also try disability stores.......small town USA where I am lists 5 shops that sell disability items. (such as wheel chairs, beds and the like)

bout time for you to join Hoot and Thelmac isn't it? I mean.....why stick around the Intel section anymore? ROFL

Traitor, eh? Here's a snippet of how I answered alan's poke, over in the intel topic...lol

I'm not turning in my intel knowledge yet... =) Just becoming versed in both formats.

OH...relax alan... I still have my name at the top of this one as a Moderator...lol

Just because I've got an XP in the box now, doesn't mean I've turned in my intel knowledge, or willingness to help those asking for it. That will NEVER change.

Actually, I've learned quite a bit recently, and I'm becoming "bi-lingual"...lol I'm starting to be able to speak intel, and AMD.

My knowledge base is growing, and I will never hold that knowledge from anyone, regardless of what they run.

Actually, I serve 9000+ masters....all of the members here at overclockers.com.

And besides, sitting behind me is my "beta" rig...P/// 600E @ 954.

And floating around this room, are 3 Celerons, a P II, and another P///, (plus a shoebox full of i486's and a handful of low grade P I's), so there's no chance of my intel knowledge getting "stale"

(I also know you're giving me another ribbing, and don't take my reply too seriously, either...lol)

**On a lighter note...I got a jeweler's loupe today for $11, at a local jewelers.**
