Calling all you Linux Gurus!

I am going to re-assemble my 400mhz PII duallie and use it (primarily!) to crunch for SETI (and Fold if times don't decrease.)

I'd like to run this pc over my tcp/ip network after it is all setup, and I do not have a whole lot of linux experience. I think I'll need Samba for the network, but maybe not????

So tell me which distro, and where!!!!

Note: if I have to I still have NT Server and Workstation-- help me get linux running on one box!

All the distros are equally good, but Mandrake (http://www.mandrake-linux.com) sets itself up for SMP out of the box... later Redhats (http://www.redhat.com) might also, but I don't know for sure.

I would say SuSE 7.3

This folding box, are you goung to use it for anything else as well? if you aren't then just go without a GUI.

PS The windows folder works slightly faster than the linux one.
