Ok heres the problem my friend just got a 300 gig western digtial for Christmas, but i cant get it to work.....We tryed to install with the cd but when choosing from the list of mdel numbers I have came to find that the WDC-3000JB isn't on there. Im thinking I need a bug fix for XP Pro to get it to show up. Shows up inthe bios but not in windows, I have even poped my XP cd in and was going to format it to see if that would do it, but it only was showing 131 gigs, so I decided to turn here,,, and help..Please

Upgrade to SP2, SP1 can only see up to a maximum of 130gb of diskspace per drive. You will likly need to load windows from a SP2 disk if this is the primary drive if its a secondary remove the drive and upgrade to SP2 then reinstall the drive.

Are you trying to reinstall Windows or just add the new hard drive to the computer?
You don't need any cd to install the disk, what exactly are you doing?
Restart computer with drive installed -- I bet it shows up in device manager.
From there just go to adminstrator tools and then go to computer management and go to hard drives or whatever it's called and you'll see your new disk just add it.

I know that I need the cd, but when you go to install from the cd it doesnt have the model number for this 300 gig hardrive, and it is hooked up on a slave channel i just need it to be more space for music, programs, etc. I have tryed hooking it up on another channel as master and slave it still picks up nothing inside of windows. Picks everything up in the bios,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,anymore suggestions??????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????
