I just got my retail x850xt, and managed to oc' it to xtpe speeds stable right out of the box on stock cooling... so like why does ATi make it so easy to oc a lower level card to a higher level with like almost no effort? wheres the profit in that.

x850XT's and XT PE's are exactly the same but with a higher clock.

Alot of times companys will produce a product which will be its Flagship card. When they have done that, they lower the clocks/lower the pipelines to the different market sections i.e. Low End, Mid End, High End. the XT and XT PE are in the high end and the only difference is usually clock speed, and sometimes maybe even slightly faster RAM.

Not everybody overclocks. Some people like the fact that ATI will warrant those extra clock speeds.

Also the XTPE will probably OC higher unmodded than an unmodded XT

but honestly, if you are willing to spend 100 bux more just to get better OC results, why not just buy a even BETTER card, then you can oc even higher?
