hard drive problems!

this is my friends computer i'm trying to fix, this happend before he turned his computer off a night before wanted to boot up in the morning and wont boot and it says "no hard disc drive detected"
can anyone help out?
i checked the connections they are good!

Go into the bios and make sure its detecting a harddrive. If so, make sure that the boot order has that harddrive selected as the drive to boot from. Sounds like either an HDD went out or something with the bios went all weird

yes, in the bios the HD is not showing up! same thing happend about a year ago!
could it be that something is corupting the HD?

It could be. Take the drive out and put it into your computer, see if its recognized.

The drive might also have been failing while on and it couldnt handle the reboot.

thx guys it had been fixed somehow in the bios it swichet to raid so i had to put it back to ide
