ive decided to go water on my current system before i upgrade next year so if anything goes wrong its not a big loss. im currently shopping for parts and have it pretty narrowed everything down except for a few things.
pump: epheim 1048
http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=25343743 02023693&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302030138&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441808202&bmUID=1135743751508&itemNo=7&Ntt=epheim&In=All&previousText=epheim&N=2
heard epheims practically never fail.
waterblock: either mcw6002 or apogee
i was leaning towards the apogee because of its universal mount but after reading up on recent reviews and posts on this forum im kinda skeptical about the quality control and possible leak problems. on the other hand, if i go for the mcw6002 then i would have to either build or buy a mount when i upgrade. im open to suggestions on other cpu blocks too.
radiator: dont really know yet.
i only want a single 120mm core since i still want to be able to take my rig to lan parties. these are currently the two i had in mind.

http://www.jab-tech.com/Black-Ice-X-Flow-Pro-Single-120mm-Radiator-pr-3207.html
i kinda wanted to go cheaper and find a radiator or core from autozone so id be grateful if anyone knows of a good core that can fit a single 120mm fan.
im not going to put a chipset or gpu cooler on because i already have an aftermarket cooler on my vid card and im not really worried about my chipset yet. as for the fan, im thinking i can just use one of the 120mm fans from my case after i mod it. any advice is appreciated. TIA.

Looks like a good parts list.
If you can fit it, go for the dual 120 core, most mid size towers that can take a single rad can also handle a double
As for the prices, watch around on the forums. members usually post really well taken care of equipment (you can browse the classifieds) for really decent prices compared to retail.

For the water block you could get a danger den block with a universal top. Just another option. I was going to recommend the storm but realized they cost like $80 now.

now im thinking about getting a dual 120mm radiator since i might be cooling my gpu in the future. for some reason, autozone and advanced autoparts jacked up the price of the 77 bonneville core to $36. for that price i could just get a BIP2. can anyone recommend a dual 120mm core for ~$20 if there are any. also, i think i might just go for the apogee. ill just be extra carefull when installing the barbs and use a good sealant in between.

It will be cheaper to buy better now than buy again later.
For the rad: search autozone for 399090. It's $18.99 + shipping.
399078 (77 bonny w/ ac) is $22 + shipping
For the WB, I wouldn't worry about any kind of sealant between the tubes and the barbs. Clamps should suffice.

the parts numbers you listed came back $22.99 for the 399090 and $32.99 for the 399078.

so i guess autozone did jack up the prices. im not even sure if the one theyre selling is the brass of copper one. ill try and stop by a local store to see if they have it in stock.

They definately have different prices in different markets. It's unfortunate that they are so much higher in your area.

well, i found the first part for $18.99 but the second one is still $32.99. add $8 for shipping. i might go check the store availability for each and pay the more expensive price just to make sure its a pure copper core. is there any difference between the two rads and will both fit 2 120mm fans? also, where can i find a dd block with universal top? if its cheaper than a $40 apogee then i might consider it.

I don't think its worth it then, I can't remember but there is only one block that I know of with Socket A mounting option (not using the 4 holes) STOP, I remember now: its MCW5000/5002 and you can get the clips here (http://www.cooltechnica.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=Clips_3-Tab&Category_Code=CPUWB-ACCESS).
I would wait if I was you.

well, i didnt really want to wait as i was hoping to build the setup over winter break so i could test it out for a couple months before i upgraded. actually i really dont need socket a mounts since i'm going to try machining my own. that way i can get used to mounting the same waterblock down the road for future upgrades. so i can either get the apogee or mcw6002. i was afraid id have to remove the backplate of the apogee when mounting so id have enough room. from what ive seen there doesnt seem to be much performance improvement from the 6002 and the apogee except that the apogee is a higher flowing block. both are the same price so that is not an issue. which one should i get?

also i picked up the bonneville heater core and im going to mod it over the weekend, but now i dont think that 1048 can drive it succifiently. any recommendations for a pump? im looking to stay around the $50 mark.

It SHOULD be fine. You can pick up a used 1250 for 50 shipped in the classifides. For $50, it might be the best all around pump. Maybe you can find a D4 or something, I dunno.
40 gets you a Mag3

i heard mags dump alot of heat into the loop. whats the reliability of these?

ok, ive practically bought everything and just need to mod them. i think im just going to go with the eheim 1250 for reliability. i have 1 more question regarding my gpu. do you think that i could modd a white water onto there? the ones at dtek are really cheap right now and i was thinking that if i just remove the shim i could make it fit. is that a good idea or will i not see any gains by doing that?

It would take some serious doing to mod a WW to fit a gpu. Not that it can't be done, but you'd be better off picking up a proper GPU block, Maze 4 with acetal top comes to mind.

do you think i could attach 90 degree bards to the white water so routing the tubes will be easier? i was just thinking that since a dtek ww is only $20 right now i could modd it and get a less restrictive flow in my loop and cool my gpu at the same time. i have the equipment since i have to build a skt a mount for the 6002 im getting so making another mount, especially for the video card, wont be very hard. im just worried that the die size on the gpu is too small to fit the ww.

You could but you'll probably have to do a LOT of cutting and fitting on the base of the block to clear various electronics.
