help. dont know why my tbird 1.33 temp is at 48C under load. i dont have stock HSF, my mobo temp is at 28C.. so is there something wrong with my setup? i have a swiftech MC370 w/ stock fan. a 51cfm 80mm sunon fan intake (front) 42cfm 80mm sunon fan out (back). it hasnt been OCed for quite awhile now. why is it still showing temps like its been OCed? should i reapply some ASII? i was going to OC again since the temperature is getting cooler.. now i'm stuck with a high temp already.. errr...

First step, switch intake and exhaust fans. Make the stronger fan the exhaust. I prefer exhaust in back but if not possible that's ok. Go inside your case and make sure there's good airflow. Get the cords and wires out of the way as much as possible. If the temp all of a sudden went up then probably something wasn't secured enough and fell or something broke or something went wrong. Make sure the hs is on the processor completely (doubt this is the case with only 48C but it's worth a shot) Go ahead and reapply ASII and see if that doesn't help.

What are you using for a temperature monitor? Asus Probe? If so, lose it and get Motherboard Monitor 5. Thats about the best app I've seen for temperature monitoring.

Failing that, tighten everything down, make sure the HS is on nice and tight, and make sure you have enough ASII on the die.

ahh. i've reapplied ASII and cleaned some dust buildup on the hsf, now its been running at 46C load. not that good but still decent and better than 48C load. i dont have those compressed air canisters so i cant clear the HS from all the dust. do you think dust is the culprit here? what about the ASII? is placing a higher output fan as an exhaust better than intake? any ideas?

(Fing crap.. 47C now. :( )

edit: its back down to 46C now.. strange....

The dust would be a good bet. What speed is your processor, anyway?

its a tbird 1.333. swiftech MC370 on top. the temp is around 46-47C load. i'm thinking of modding my case to fit a 120mm fan. (for higher output and less noisy) where should i put it? front (intake) or back (exhaust)?

what is your ambient temp ?
i have no case fans but opened case... with maze 2 watercooled

running a duron 800 @ 1027 because i chipped my tbird 1gig.

idle = 24/32 - ambient 19c
full load = 26/36 - ambient 19c

current temps.
full load = 32/45 - ambient 25c

Make sure the heatsink and fan is on securely and that the asII is on properly follow instructions on the arcticsilver website www.arcticsilver.com

Also more exhaust is better but getting an even airflow through the case a 120mm fan is less noisy unless you get an insane comair rotron god knows how many cfm fan. case modding is good too but make sure you have even airflow.
