voltage increase

is there something that will increase the volts from 12 to like 15-20, like an inverter or somthing

basially the circuit to do so will convert the power to a high frequency AC voltage, put it through a transformer, and then rectify it back to DC. soon as i get back from a service call (yeah posting from work) ill find a link to the guide / schematic.
