I finally got my Asus p5ld2 / 830d assembled and the heating issues under control, finally ! Anyway, she caught 2 QMD's right off the bat! Not ever having had a rig that got QMD's, I didn't know what the expected performance would be. In exchanging PM's with pscout I posted an excerpt of one of the log text files, which showed the steps taking around 47-50 minutes to complete. Pscout mentioned that that was not optimal, and that the C1E mode for cpu power consumption @idle should disabled; also disabled is the internal thermal control feature. Also, pscout recommended running 1 client for faster completion, since it just has a single 1 gig stick of ram, hence no dual channel action. After disabling the C1E and thermal control feature the logs show the step completion time down from around 50 minutes to about 25 minutes. In deed, if only 1 client is running the step completion time drops to 15 minutes.
Newegg will be recieving my order for another stick of ram before 6 this evening.

TA first, I thought you were referring to a program, after rereading. I realised you were referring to our member her pscout :D
good deal on the qmd's. might I be looking for some optimal settings for my qmd's.

once you've got QMD'ed, you'll never wanna turn back!! ;)
with another stick, dual channel, even 1gig should be good to fold 2 QMDs given it's not a heavily use rig. fold on!!

pscout has been providing some much appreciated mentoring for this, my first modern Intel project! ;)

I had an old P1-233 folding for about 3 weeks. It was up to 135 frames out of 400 on a tinker. :bang head Me being impatient, I shut it off and will probably just sneakernet the WU to one of my other machines. :)
