View Full Version : My Folding Report
Well. Since i am fairly new and have been folding for about 7 days so far, i decided i would post up a indepth report on how i am doing.
I am currently rank 2,720 which is not bad for 7 days in my opinion but i wouldn't know. I have so far completed 4 work units and my PPD is 91... and i currently have 635 points!
As always, im on the lookout for more computers to borg. and of course, with permission. Soon enough i will have 4 pretty good computers that are on almost 24/7 to borg.
PC 1 is just a pentium 4 with around 2.4 ghz. not bad, but its still a good folder.
PC 2 is an AMD AThlon 64 3000+ venice core at 2.1 ghz
PC 3 is some pentium computer, don't know but its fast
and PC 4 is an AMD Athlon 64 3200+
I should be conquering most of the lower people soon enough!

that is a good start. I remember being at that level and lower when I started. :D
at first you rise pretty fast, but then there are so many others trying to get ahead of you... It aint pretty (but its hella fun)
hahaha. for sure. right now theres not so many people moving. most of them are people who have retired before they even started.
keep on folding - you will pass a bunch of dead folders on your way up.
its so sad how they decided to close the program so early on. It doesn't take much now that i think about it. a little bit of your system memory but nothing else! your not even using those cpu cycles in the first place.
My friends have so many unused cpu cycles its noteven funny. And 90% of all there computers are bestbuy computers with 2.5-3 ghz p4s.

You'll jump a few pages each WU for a little while. And once you hit pages in the teens you'll slow down a little.
Also it's going to take a few days until the graphs and start start showing 'good' data. Needs a decent amount of data to show where you headed and how fast fairly accurately.
With the borgage your showing you might end up being a good running mate of mine...
You should catch up fairly fast, and I'll try to stay with ya.. ;)

That a single P4 and a duron 1ghz folding since my production dropped during my move home from college. Oh yeah, and one present from santa.

Nice work Tyreal! I've only been folding since May of this year and have been steadily adding boxen and upping my production... although I really didn't get it movin' until October. Borg whatever you can... even old K62s & Celly's are good for some pernts! :D ...and that list of probable borgs looks like some nice ppd. :santa: I need to find some good/cheap socket 7 boards b/c I've got two more K62s on the shelf plus an old Celly...
It gets a little addictive, but there are much worse things to be addicted too... and it's helping a great cause. Win -> Win in my book. The only other caveat to folding IMO is your wallet. Although many probably have better self control than I do when it comes to new hardware. :D

Runnin' a little slow right now... was away for the holiday and shut down almost everything. Work box threw me a tinker treat on Christmas Day though! :santa: Plus the gift I got from Santa a few days before. Thanks Santa! :santa2:
Watch me tomorrow! Should be a big pernts day by my standards! :D
Keep 'em Foldin'!

Nice foldage... hehe
All I can say is... relentlessly and obsessively optimize your folding clients in the beginning so that you can sit back and enjoy, knowing that without any more work your stuff will be doing the work for you at maximum efficiency.

As you can see I'm a new folder of less than 2 months but I've learned enough that I got the basics down pretty good. Actually that's not entirely true. I folded before a long time ago, but in a crude fashion as I knew NOTHING of different types of cores, ppd, and all that. I just installed a service or graphical client and let it run. I also folded for a team of jerks.
Btw my favorite member of the team:

Just because it is so cool to see such a low ppd and such a high rank.. although i see it was much higher before >=p
