Going with an 820....I just can't see no other way

the data compiled throughout everyone's posts just seems that the 820 would be a good hardnose runner...

methinks you should wait a few months and scoop up a multiFSB Xeon when they come out. Pooowww-ahh!

Damn damn damn....

Your right just noticed that in a few months I could get something better...

Back goes the credit card......guess I'll just do a quick simple sale and grab a 630 to get the server up and going.....and I'll head over and grab 3 mobo/combos and some memory cheap that should get me going steady....

Sorry for the babble....seems that someone slipped a micky in my pepsi :-/

Wedge... get yourself 3 or 4 cheap p4's at 2.8ghz, 512mbs RAM each, and a cheap Video Card in each (a GeForceFX 5200 would do fine and make them semi-decent gaming machines if you wanna LAN with them at all.. :D ). and set them for QMD's.

if you do go for the 820, I would suggest you just wait for a couple more weeks for the 9xx series.

and if you go frank's route with the extra rigs ... and aren't going to game on them, get the cheapest vid card you can find ... $17 (cdn) pci ati rages at tigerdirect.ca can be used on any mobo rather than agb or pci-x. Don't waste folding $ on anything good UNLESS you have an alternate use for the rigs.

3 p4 @ 2.8 = 1200 ppd.
1 820 @ 3.6 = 765 ppd.

get the GOOD cheap video cards here only around $4.50us Can't beat that price for NVidia AGP. but the price is probably good only until 1/1/06 they have some kind of great clearance sale going on.

LOL!

Wedge, I swear that sometimes you are reading my thought patterns. :)

I would concur with the pack and suggest either the cheaper P4's, or waiting for the multi-FSB systems out next year.
