hey, does anyone know how to use the remote desktop in windows xp? and the personal firewall/proxy stuff. i have a second computer on my network i want to fold with (800mhz tbird), but it doesnt have internet, so it will have to connect through this computer, AND, i want to control it from this computer using remote desktop. anyone familiar with how to do this? i could easily crank out many more WU's if this box was up.

The remote desktop won't help. It's similar to pcAnywhere, it let's you control another computer on your network. You need to look into internet connection sharing. XP's got it, check out the Help. It's pretty easy to setup.

Remote desktop will allow you to control the 'slave PC' (tbird 800) from the master PC (XP), if I understand the remote desktop feature correctly.
Or you could also use a free desktop control package like VNC to do it.
Either way, you still need internet connection sharing on the main PC though.
I thought it was the other way around. you can control the winxp box from another computer. If I am wrong let me know.

You are correct. WinXP would need to be on the slave and probably on the master as well (not sure exactly how it works, only read up on it).
For simplicities sake, I'd use VNC.
