What am I doing wrong?

This has bugged me since the day I got cable internet and a computer to play games on: I cant figure out how to properly host a server on any game I play.

Ive tried going into my router status/ settings and putting my pc in the DMZ, etc etc, and nothing Ive tried is letting me host a game dedicated or non dedicated.

Maybe someone can help? :shrug:

Not sure about cable, but I had the same issue with my DSL because the DSL modem had its own built-in security.

You might want to try connecting your system physically outside the router to see what happens.

Would be helpful to know what game we are talking about. At any rate, you could try the forums for your games. They should have a list of ports that need to be open. Additionally, make sure that you don't have a firewall installed that would block potential ports. If you do, set up rules in your firewall to allow the game server to run.
