View Full Version : 3DMARK05 Crashing (why?)

I guess i'm posting in the right place

This is where i'm at...
You read my SIG to see my setup

mb don't read mem voltage and timings right by crucial
so i manually set 2.1v at 3-3-3-12 - crucial specs
and i have moved the auto vcore 1.37v up to 1.38v <- i think thats right

i oc mode to manual
then i use cpu/mem - manual mode as fsb goes up mem stays within -5% to +5%

i set nvidia display panel to 3Dmark05 profile

everything runs stable up to 240x4 = fsb960
after i go past 960 fsb the 3dmark05 crashes after all the fast tests
when the 1st test (the lagger i call it) begins, 3dmark05 will crash

it crashed just like a windows app

where it gives you the option to send report to microsoft

but my computer and everything is still running fine

any ideas?

************ EDIT
I just found this in event viewer...
Faulting application 3dmark05.exe, version 1.2.0.0, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x00010e18.

Anyone have an idea why its crashing?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'lagger' but I'm guessing it's the CPU tests. Running the free versaion like you are you can simply hit escape after the first 3 graphics tests and get a valid score, that what most people do anyway. Now if your into stability ;) and are trying to test your overall system performance when overclocked you might wanna track down whats causing this.

Skipping the CPU tests is another way to raise your score usually because you can run a higher overclock.

Yes - stability
But i'm a noob - just got into this with my new rig about 6 weeks or so now...

i'm just now learning factory voltages and reading how far i may go up etc
but with doing a manual fsb stepping up - i don't know how to set mem timings etc to compensate yet

i got 3dmark05 registered today - so i can disable cpu test now
i made a clean pass at 245x4/980fsb/3920ghz from my 3.2 dual core
scored 10,832
mem to specs
no oc on 7800s

then 250x4 - BSOD with instant reboot :(

i gotta slow the mem down or something i'm sure - just gotta lot of reading to do i guess

my top score 11040 is #1 for hw vs hw right now
i was in AI OC mode 1000/667
but it wasn't stable

back to topic...
the crashes are either from 3dmark05.exe or from ntdll.dll in event viewer
and when 3dmark just completly crashes and just disappears - there is nothing logged in events

so right now i don't have a clue as to how i will track this gremlin down

*** EDIT ***
I think i'm going to order the P5N32 Sli Deluxe tomorrow
