I loved the game, the multiplayer is pretty good. We usually host a server friday and saturday night :)

I agree with that completely, not meaning to slam the game or anything but Doom3 gave me more of a scare. Don't get me wrong the game has its good points, but waaaayyyyy over-hyped :)

Hey thats just the way I found it, I'm saying that it is or not. Hell, imho Undying is still the best game out there for a scare. Its just something about F.e.a.r that didn't hold my attention.

I dont know maybe i am just a girl. I play in my room with all the lights off and the hair on my arm jumped up a few times. I have gotten far into the game and now i know what you mean about it turning into just another shot-em-up game. After i beat single player mode i will probably just uninstall and go back to BF2 !

I just finished the game and I can honestly say it was not scary at all. I don't know why so many people think it is so much better than Doom 3. Yea the AI is a little better but it never delivered on what it was supposed to do, scare the **** out of you. The girl honestly wasn't that scary, especially since you always have the tell-tale static to let you know when they are going to try to freak you out. Their where only a few moments when something unexpected happened that actually startled me. That is what this game lacks, the fear of the unknown. At no point in the game other than the watchers, did something unexpected happen.

Doom 3 did a much better job at scaring you than this game could ever hope to do. I don't know how many times I found myself jumping back into my seat playing D3. FEAR only did that to me a few times and even then it wasn't that big of a startle. Is it a good game, yea. Does it deserve the name FEAR, no way in hell. Back to BF2 I guess.

Well no game is going to scare me I am just not built that way. But FEAR was just a great game period IMHO. I could shoot nail guns or re bar guns all day and it never gets old. Taking over their remote ceiling turrets and wiping out whole squads was also a blast.

Ive only played it for a about 3 hours and its alright. I agree that Doom 3 scared me more than this game does. Ill play it some more and see whats up.

Actually it was your choice to read down this far. I don't think we ever once said that Fear was a bad game, just that it was over-hyped.

I agree about it being over-hyped. THe AI was great, especially at harder difficulty levels, but the gameplay gets repetitive. If you fight with your brain as much as your gun, you find yourself using mechanical responses to the enemies over and over again.

I don't think Alma (the girl) or Paxton Fettel (the guy you're hunting) were all that creepy. Alma started to give the heebie-jeebies toward the end, though. She was very...Silent Hill. In fact, her entire portion of the plot was very Silent Hill.

I do like the twisted plot, but for it to really twist morality you have to be toward the end. The game felt more like the movie "Stealth", where basically nothing happens and you're kinda bored until the last portion of the plot where it all comes together.

The only part that really gave me the old System Shock-style spooks was toward the end when you run into teenage Alma in the ethereal hallway. (SPOILER ALERT) I figured it was another "just shoot her and she goes away" thing, so when she lunged at me and killed me the first time, I nearly ****ed myself (End Spoiler).

Good showcase for a strong AI and an advanced physics engine, though. On the X2 processors, at least, a shotgun blast to the stomach of an enemy snapped the virtual spine in two and the foe would fold over in a very gruesome manner resembling a bent mattress.

Just finished it and thought it was mediocre, the bullet time combat was quite cool, but the novelty soon wore off, the graphics were very pretty, but the story and level design were like 5 years out of date. I kept thinking 'hey! another corridor, or, oh a street that looks like a corridoor'. Still monolith have made a cracking engine, and with some quality physics code it could definitely make a HL2 beater in the hands of a good dev team, and as the Doom 3/Quake 4 engine seems kinda sucky and inneficient, it's good that there is a major rival to source.

Overhyped,. HL2 had a much better storyline and actually kept me playing, while FEAR is still sitting there unfinished.

Just really felt like the hero on HL2, screw FEAR, doom 3 is better.

I still think System Shock 2 was one of the best games ever made. Yes, its grahcics are now lacking, but it had ...so much stuff!!!!!

*Ability to pick up stuff like in HL2 a few years before HL2
*Scarier than FEAR or Doom3 without using the dark environment
*REALLY good plot
*Nice fun balanced weapon
*RPG style skills like in no other game
*Awsome sound
*No powerfull computer required.
*BEST multiplayer ever, with the addition of co-op play.

I bought a scratched copy of System Shock 2 that turned out to be unusable (for 50 pence), and then thought 'hey I have my legal licence, so I'm gonna play the damn thing' and bit torrented a copy, and it's awesome. There is an SS2 rebirth pack that improved the gfx quite a lot, and a whole host of other slight tweak mods that make it feel a bit more modern without spoiling the gameplay.

I just beat Fear about 10 mins ago and there was a few moments where i was scared ****less.Doom only scared me in the first few levels then i could expect what was coming. Fear follows in Doom 3's footsteps with overall with repitition, but has a wonderful ending to the story unlike Doom that dosnt have a strong one. Then again that wasn't ID's goal in Doom. So in the end I feel the gameplay is very similar, but Fear pulls ahead with a much stronger and compelling story than Doom and the climatic action you get from Fear

How does it end ? I already uninstalled it. Was getting tired of the same fights over and over again. I left just in time to join a BF2 server jump in a chopper and just as we took off the chopper flipped and we crashed and burned , Awwwww BF2 noobs , i missed you guys.

Im in the process of playing it, finding it a lot of fun. not scary to me really, but a lot of fun playing, although the random mob shooting gets old the play is very fun, particularly with the slow-mo and the moves...plus the story dosent look too bad.
hl2 still pwns IMO
