View Full Version : Ram heatsinks and Orb for 8500
Okay, I should have my retail ATI Radeon 8500 here by the end of the week. They have set the day back like 3 times so far, so hoping its for real this time. I am going to be OC'ing it a bit of course so I need some proper cooling. I am wondering what ram heat sinks and what Orb I should use to cool the GPU. If anyone has the card already and is using these, suggestions would be appriciated. If not, maybe some links to where I could get some online would be great. I just want to be prepared for when it gets here. Thanks in advance.

This is for the 64DDR VIVO, but same applies.
Thanks, looks good. Anyone with links to where I could purchase the orb and heatsinks online for a good price? I could probably fine some, but I trust everyone here's opinon.

i have the card and the ram does not get blazzing hot so you don't need monstorus ram sinks just some little cut up 486 heatsinks will do just fine(lap them first and use silver compound)

i guess you could use a cut up P1 heatsink as well. but that may be a little bit of overkill:D

I have a slot 1 p3 heatsink can I cut that up for ramsinks ..
If so how would I stick them together ?
And if your going to buy any orb MAKE SURE YOU LAP IT!!!
The orbs are very poorly created and espically the blorb if you lap it you'll see that the middle is more in and the outside are sticking out more therfore all uneven sides.
Good Luck.

when you use heatsinks that big you run into problems with the memory slots on your board because the mem sinks stand out so far:rolleyes:

If so how would I stick them together ?I just used Krazy Glue on two corners. So far, so good. I had to push quite a bit to get the new heatsink off after letting it set, so I'm content with its ability to keep it attched
