Hello!

I've got photography as a hobby, but I'm trying to sell some photographs stock. I need a new monitor, my current LG 99G is 6 years old now and it's colours aren't what they used to be.
I've been looking at a few different LCD brands but the sheer amount of monitors is overwhelming! I don't even really know where to start.
I'd like to get a 17 or 19 inch, depending on the price.
What's important to me is how well colours are displayed, I don't really care that much about the lag time, though I do play a little (fps and rts), I don't need a 3ms monitor though.

I'm looking to spend around 400€, is that too little to get anything worthwhile?

if you want to spend that much check out the dell line of monitors.. either a 20 inch or a 24 inch will do.

JMO, but when it comes to color accuracy CRTs still own LCDs. Case in point, my wife and I went to behr.com to pick out some paint for our house. This was on an NEC LCD. When we arrived at the store we were shocked by how far off the colors were in person from what we saw on the monitor. "deep reds" that we picked out were actually more wine colored, and what we really wanted appeared brown on the monitor but was actually more of a garnet shade.

So when we got back home I went upstairs to my KDS CRT and lo and behold the colors on behr.com were far more accurate to real life.

Your best bet may be a new trinitron based CRT. LCDs are getting better every day, but I don't think they are really all their cracked up to be, at least not yet.

I agree with Doublejack. LCD's are easy on the eyes, but the color is much more vibrant on a good CRT. I use both and while I love to surf the net on an LCD, I wouldn't do anything visually critical on it. You can get some great deals on CRT's because they are not in demand. It could tide you over till the LCD's are that much better.
