Ok,

I start a game, and it chugs like crazy. I mean, freezes for a 1-2 seconds+ sometimes, then I start moving thinking "it's over now" and then it starts again. Longest it has done this was for about 5 minutes. A lot of times I have to stop flying planes, etc. because I crash becuase it "freezes" yet I'm still "moving" on the 'net so I crash.

I have just one stick of 1gb RAM (PC 3200, PNY) and I plan on getting another stick of it for dual channel.

So am I correct in guessing it's my RAM? My HD is just an IDE WD 160gb HD I got for $32 after rebate (though the scammers from CompUSA haven't only sent me half of my rebate, or rather, the other company has, but CompUSA has sent me $0! It's time for the Better Business Buruea! )

Edit Resolution is at 1280x1024 (highest my CRT will support). FPS are usually around 90fps even when it's "chugging" so I don't think it has anything to do with my video card. All settings on high.

Yea it's your ram. Leave the textures at medium for now. That should clear it up.

Most likely it is you RAM, once you get 2 GB it will be smooth :)

Cool, thanks ya'll :)

I'll "need" 2gb of RAM for UT2007 anyway, so why not buy it ASAP :santa: Then here comes SLI :)

Agreed, most likely RAM, but maybe try defrag, might help a bit as well. Possible game server issue, or is the prob 'server universal'?

Cheers.

Same thing happens to me, when the textures are on high. Not enough ram. Solution is either to run textures on medium, or get 2gb or ram.

ROTF !!!! :D

Bang 2 gigs huh? / snicker

anything over 1 gig will work.
Turn some visual settings down too.

run a lower resolution, turn settings down, turn off all the cr@p in you system tray that you don't need !

that'll fix ya right up.

Check your HDD as well, enough free space / defragged?

I agree whats your ping ?

I run ,x2 4400 and a 7800GTX with 1 gig of ram ,all settings maxed never any lag or delays..I realize everyone says use 2 gigs,,but for me 1 gig has proven to be enough

It isn't a ping issue, I have had a lot of experiences with ping (i.e.-COD2 on the Xbox360, nothing like paying $70/year for "Live" and then it pinging so bad you can't continue game after game) and also COD1.

I have a Wireless-G Linksys router with a wireless card on my desktop, but I currently have it hardwired. The cable is 3mb/second, but my ping isn't the best. I have replaced a ton of old cable, but apparently it's just my cable supplier :(

Oh, and the last time it was worse. But I guess it was my fault, I had Firefox open with about 3-4 tabs on it, and another program or two, and antivirus, and firewall. . .ok, I know, dumb.

I just wish this game didn't suck the life out of every PC it's on!

Did you install the X2 Driver for the processor ? ? It still sounds like ping to me .

If it's during the game I don't see this being ram... maybe the normal stuttering and slow load but once that's over I've never had problems like that EXCEPT when network went fuzzy and ping went crazy. Happens every now and again at college since you got a the whole dorm wired for 10m and a lot (45 per floor, 8 floors) of kids there. At least each dorm is supposedly T1....

I'm agreeing with Diehrd at the moment on this one. I've seen gliches and hangs at what one would think is moderate pings but it's still network connection problems.
