PLEASE DO NOT TURN THIS INTO A NVIDIA vs ATI DEBATE!!!

There is absolutely nothing to debate here. NOTHING! Even MadOnion has the Radeon 8500 at the top of it's Hall of Fame.

But Nvidia gets you more FPS and poorer 2D quality and their drivers aren't as good and my momma can kick your mamma's bum!..

Awesome.

Now actually start tweaking the thing ;).

Great job. I see that the 8500 turned out to be a great card!

In respect to this request I will not say any more ;) Besides I agree this should be a thread of celebration and congrats.

I was wondering when R&B would pop up and say something like that. Nice score man, wish I had a card like that.

@ R&B: I think everyone here has gotten the point hat you don't like ATI. Why do you feel the necessity to put down other peoples stuff just because it isn't what you prefer? I think you should learn a little tolerance

My $0.02

7908??? Are you sure you're not mixing up your 3d scores with the number of times your card has crashed on you??:p

lol ya this was a joke. The m64 doesn't even have hardware t&l. Just a joke. Kind of making fun of the ppl that say any nVidia card is better than any ATI card.

Default I was just curious if that is while the card is oc'd? Just wondering because before you had posted a lower score in another thread so i was wondering if it was because of an oc or new drivers or both?

actually someone got over 10'000 3dmark points on 3dmark2001 wif a 1.6ghz max mem timings at 168mhz using a gf3 @ 278/578.
mean machine! go to overclockers.co.uk and look for the epox wif da kt266A chipset and its under one of the reviews.

Quick Question. What settings for 3D Mark were you using to get the 7908 score? 1024x768x32?

PJD
11-03-01, 08:56 AM
I just upgraded my drivers that came with my Leadtek with the 21.83 reference drivers and I went from 6480 scores @ 1024x768x32 to 8102!! Running 3DMark2001 continuously to make sure they are stable. So far after 4 runs everything looks good (finally). It's good to have competition tho!! Better quality and low costs to us. Can't have it any better than that:-)

very good, you're getting there, you should think about putting your compare url in your signature, i'm sure you've got a top 10percent finish here at the site!

Just to let you know only senior members are allowed to have personal url's in their sig. Again just letting you know.

4. We do not permit advertising OF ANY KIND! This includes posting your URL, offering items for sale or trade Or announcements of new sites This applies equally to commercial and private ads. We do permit Senior Members to post their URLs - this is the only exception.

I am a little bit confused about this.

Does it actually mean that we are not allowed to link our compare url's or other that kind of things?
Does it also mean that we can not provide link to place that has additional information to solve problems. I mean like link to memory preset timing values chart for KG7 etc.

i believe you are allowed to show your compare scores link, as long as it isnt your own website its fine....

If i'm not allowed to put a compare url in my sig, then i'm outta here, that's just plain wrong! I worked long and hard to get this hardware and it is just getting tweaked, I'm not even close to maxed out yet, just too damn busy in the military these days to work on it much anymore, and i'll be a sonufagun if I'm not allowed to share my score-call it gloating if you want, i'm proud of it, as the orig poster is of theirs. I'm not advertising MO's site, i'm sure many of us are double-agents anyway. Enough of that, if there's a prob, please mods let us (me) know and I'll remedy mine.

onto the thread; i cool my card with an aquasink from och and i had it clocked at 260/570, just for a test, it does 580 and 585 without artifacting, but for some reason, 3dmark doesn't like it much, drops me out before the last test, it runs incomplete benchmarks though, all game tests/fillrate/polys/vertex, just won't run the pixel shader, exits to desktop. score on incomplete benchmarks has been between 8900 to 9300, the 9300 i've got saved until i can get a complete one to run. This was all on the 1.4 i had until Yest, now i've got this xp1800 and i've just started playin with it, as you can see it's not really highly overclocked, 140fsb, my board will do much more, just haven't wanted to increase the voltage on the chip yet till i'm sure my watercooling on it is secure and efficient, which it's proven to be so far. Once i have my place cleaned up after the massive case modding/system building party i had Fri i hope to get some pics of my setup. keep a watch out.

What i said i'm not sure applies to you're sig a mod'll have to tell you for sure. But if it is a problem then you can post your results in your sig without the url. Like GeForce3 Ti500@260/570 8123(or whatever score you happen to have) in 3dMark2001. But that's a nice card and a nice oc :)

EDIT:lol i just noticed you already have your 3dMark score.

That 8102 was the high, not average. After 50 runs, the average was 8090. I overclocked just the FSB....to 139. I haven't OCed the video card yet, but I doubt I will. I tried one time to OC to 250/510 and I got weird monitor fails. I'll try again when I feel bored and want to mess up a perfectly good system. I had a hard time reverting back to the original numbers even tho I was able to reset them to factory defaults. Took a few reboots. Scary moment. I attempted this on an emachine monitor, not my good Dell P990 Trinitron monitor. Maybe what I did the monitor couldn't handle. The cooling is from the standard hsf that comes with the Leadtek Ti500. The case is aluminum and with 4 fans, I might be able to OC without additional cooling.

The KT266A chipset in its current form coupled with an Athlon XP cpu is unstable with OC. I had a very difficult time just OC to 139 with 7 different kinds of RAM. The Corsair PC2400 was a waste of money thus far. I'm using Samsung PC2100 right now, which is real stable. Maybe with future BIOS patches, I can OC further.

notice that my radeon kept up with a 32 bit Z-buffer on? your geforce is only using a 24 bit z_buffer:p

you should be getting more with your 9700. I wouldn't be surprised if you meant 17908..........lol

i'm running an Epox 8k5a3+ with 512Mb PC2700 Samsung memory, an AMD 1600+ @ 1665Mhz (9x185) and a Leadtek ti4200.

I get 10800 3dmarks and 11112 3dmarks with the leadtek @ 295/513

forgot to mention, that's with the default settings (1024x768, 32-bit, compressed, etc).

i think all i can say to you is shut up. and don't talk **** if you dont know what your talking about.

I feel like I am taking crazy pills.. i dont see any links... and if thats a score for a 9700 than that is not very good, so why is everyone sayig it is!?!?!?

7908? You mean 17908, don't you? 7908 would be a pathetic score for your system, especially with a RADEON 9700 PRO!
