6600Gt 128 ddr3 vs 6600 256 ddr

Building a system for my daughter who loves to play Quake 3 and is trying Quake 4 but here video wont handle it. Was wondering if the memory will cause a big difference and what it might be Must be agp

128MB to 256MB is just about 2-5 fps gain i would get the 128 to save money :D

Even if 128mb gained 2-5fps over 256mb, a 6600GT is going to be faster than a plain 6600. I would go with the 6600GT. By the time new games require more video memory, you'll probably want a faster video card anyway.

Thanx for the quick response. I figured I would go with the GT/128 but wasnt 100% sure since it runs about $20-$50 more then the 6600 w/256

actually ive got a 6600 turboforce here "made by gigabyte" stock was 400/1000"

its 256mb agp, and i was wondering the difference in speed between it anda gt before i bought it.

anyways it easily oc'd past gt speeds and i got that extra 128mb of ram, i got it upto 580/1300,

remember this is the turboforce edition, so that means its passively cooled "heatpipe ;)"...

DDR-PIII you have a speacial card. I to had a pci-e card similar to yours and they are not in production anymore. The new ddr2 256mb 6600's perform well against GT's almost on par but that is the only true 6600 that will perform with a GT. And there price is the same, so the GT is the way to go. I have a fairly fast system and Q4 beat my 6600GT down so I would say go with at least that if you want to play Q4, D3 or fear.
