hi i just got my 80W pelt from silver soft and im running this setup :: res & pump >>> water chiller (80W pelt) >>> radiator (heater Core) >>> Water Block >>> res/pump

i am running the pelt at 12V and works well im using a globalwin hsf to cool the hot side and used heaps of goop and there is NO temp differance when i run it without the pelt! whats goin on???

Thanx Phear

If I follow your pumping lines correctly, your radiator is in the wrong spot. It should be res/pump>>water chiller>>water block>>radiator>>res/pump, or you could put the radiator before the water chiller and remove the heat from the pump as well as the CPU. But the TEC must be just before the CPU.

Wait am I reading this wrong or your using that thing to cool the hot side the Global Win..?

Maybe you need something better to cool the hot side or you need a more powerful peltier.

If you have a good radiator, it should handle most of the heat load. The TEC should be just for getting your coolant below room temp. Make sure your HSF can handle the heat load from the TEC. Easy on the goop, to much is as bad as not enough ! Thinner is better. If you have a 80W TEC and it is running at Qmax, you will need an HSF that handle about 150W heat load or better.

Well, with the water chiller right before the radiator, the radiator's actually working in reverse. Cold water in the radiator + warm ambient air blowing on the radiator = water comes out warmer on the other side of the radiator. The cold water is actually warmed by the reverse of the cooling effect that the radiator has. Also, try cooling the TEC with something larger than a globalwin HSF. I had an old low-wattage TEC that had a small 486 fan on it, it didn't really get very cold at all. When I ripped that crappy HSF off and arctic silver epoxied it to a Xeon cooler with dual 60mm fans on it, it got A LOT cooler, A LOT faster.
