My friend gave me a DVD of all our high school's football game footage, and I want to be able to rip select parts into quicktime format (mpg?). I am good with computers, but have no virtually no experience with video editing. How do I go about ripping and changing it to this form? He said the DVD has no copy protection. Thanks.

I would love to know if that's possible too. I have fooled around with it and never come up with anything. Maybe some else knows?
Of course it's possible! Anything is possible with today's technology

There's a bunch of reading but you can do it with the proper software. Also, .mov is quicktime format while mpg is the MPEG format.

Here is what I am using. Also works great to put dvd's on the new 5g ipod.
It will rip it whether its protected or not and it turns it into quicktime. I paid for this one hope you find one thats free.If you do post a link

You may also want to check out http://www.doom9.net. They have some great tutorials on converting to various formats.

DVD2SVCD.COM has a program (by the same name) will get it into a .MPG files well enough, Then to cut and edit, I use TEMPGenc to do the cutting and stuff.
