I have the same question...
Basically which is better (I hope you are asking the same question FUSE)
1) 2-2-2-6 at 200 mhz
or
2) 3-3-3-8 at 260 mhz

Clocks speeds over timing is what I've been told.

Is there a great difference or is saving 50 bux worth it?

if you money to blow buy better ram, but if you don't you're fine with cheaper stuff. at most it's 2-3% in real world applications

For comparison:
DDR500 2-2-2 ~= DDR600 2.5-3-3, and DDR500 2-2-2 is easier to get and is usually cheaper, but also requires a vDIMM of 3.4v+.

Im deciding between this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231047) and this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231021)

For only $30 difference, I'd get the Extreme Series. At least you won't need to OC the RAM if you OC your chip and want to get a 1:1 ratio.

Heavy overclock but loose timings: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231021
Tight timings but hardly an overclock: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231032
Don't know where you got the idea the red ones compete with the black or light blue ones.
