Hmm. Should I pick up an X1800XT nowish, or wait a bit and get the X1900?
And any chance anybody knows when Newegg gift certificates expire? :P

I don't know personally I'd wait and see what happens since its suppositly its coming out in what 2 weeks or less? Can't hurt to see what happens at least and see the preformance of them, in games not just 3D Marks.
If not the X1800XT might be slightly cheaper which is a win win situation at least :)
I would wait. Deathman said it perfectly. Prices will likely drop the the X1800 once the X1900 comes out. If you dont like the performance difference, you can still pick that X1800 up.
Your wait is almost over.

The price of the X1800 is dropping and should hit bottom once the X1900 is hard released.. once the retail gouging of the X1900 is over the X1800 might see a slight drop in price again, but it should stay for a good while once it gets to that point..
this is just in case your talking about prices..
If its performance you want.. The pre-release specs on the X1900 make it a vastly superiour card (if it tests out it will ROCK!! :D )

Wait for the price drop of the current generation of video card, not for the next latest thing. There is always "the next thing" once the new thing comes out.
But of course if you must have the latest thing, then by all means, get it when it comes out.

From the specs I've heard, I'd wait for the R580 if you've got money to burn. Otherwise just buy an X1800XT.

Well, if I had money to burn, there'd be a lot of things I'd be upgrading. ;)

start saving up. I should too if I want to upgrade and overclock to 3.5GHz socket m2 a64 but this could be a couple years down the road. My cpu will be too slow for games by then

not to worry, since you really don't game, i am sure your present setup will serve you well into the future.
seems you got everything you want, high end vid card, and A64 939 CPU that seems to smash others into the ground(especially ANYTHING Intel has), some of the best ram going, and did i mention the extra step you went to cool the CPU with that stock cooler?????
yeah, you got me worried now..............is my rig enough???? i sure hope so, oh the madness.......

i'd say ~£500 for the XTX and maybe 430-450 for the XT
sounds about right and what i was sorta thinking, hey who knows ATI may surprise and be under £399 or below for the XT :)
well this is odd, I just got of the phone from a guy called Scott from
http://www.overclockers.co.uk and he said that he couldnt comment on avaiablilty of the new cards and said they do NOT have any x1900 in stock,
he directly said they have trouble getting hold of the 1800's let alone the 1900
He advised me call in a couple of weeks,I told him ATI are pushing a hard launch and cards should be for sale from the 24th
Gibbo if you read this can you confirm if theres truth behind this, has your work got any of these cards

heh that's weird....i think he just said that because they are still under NDA and if he told you they had cards they would probably get 1000 calls in an hour.
anyway read this comment from the man himself http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=6266839&postcount=61
theres a few more in the thread from him too
