It has to do with the network settings. You can search your HD for *.pwl...These are the password files. Delete all. Next time you log on you will get the log on box. Don't enter any password and you will not be bugged any more. This may make your cable modem act up depending on how your ISP is setup. Another solution is to d/l Tweak UI. They have a menu choice to automaticly logon. Just add your username and password there and it will automaticly sign you on to windows.

if you remove that logon, you can't use your cable modem. There is a network adapter called 'client for microsoft windows' (i think). Start > settings > control panel > network. If you remove this, your winME networking/cable capabilities will be gone/disabled (you can't surf the web via cable). I am not sure if this 100% accurate, all i know is that if you delete that client in your network, you will rid yourself of the logon and of the internet :) hope this helps!

I have never been able to get mine to go away without using TweakUI. I've tried the Windows Logon thing. I've tried deleting the *.pwl files. I guess I should be happy that at least TweakUI works.

Just change your IP address in your network settings. That is how my login screen went away. Back then I liked the login screen, even though I never had a password. When I changed my network settings, it went away and I couldn't get it back. Glad its gone now...
I can't be sure that it will be gone via my instructions but it may be worth a try. Good luck...
