I am on an upgrade path that has so far ended in an Asus A8N-SLI Premium with an Opty 165, 2g of GSkill, and one 7800GT. My goal is two 7800GT's in SLI. The last stumbling block (besides the $$ for the 2nd 7800) is the PSU. I currently am running a Fortron Bluestorm 500w, which I am more than satisfied with. It is solid as a rock. But if I have read correctly it is unfortunately NOT the psu to power an SLI setup because of it being a Dual Rail model, not to mention it is not SLI ready. I have pretty much came to the conclusion that I will replace it with the OCZ 520w SLI. I looked at the others you see posted but I think the OCZ is the best bang for the buck for what I need.

Am I right in my conclusions?

The bluestorm while great, IMO is not equipped to handle SLI, I think moving to a Powerstream 520 is the right move.

i just installed my ocz powerstream today while on my lunch break. Very satisfied with it. cpu at idle i get 12.22 volts, cpu at 100 load it actually goes up to 12.29 volts. this is out of the box. now you cant beat that. the power supply looks good and is in a very good price range. i say go for it, you wont be disappointed i guarantee it.

You are correct. The Fortron is a great PSU but does have its limitations. 7800GT's are power hungry and doing SLI will definitely require a power supply better equipped to handle the load.

The OCZ is a very good choice.

Thanks for the replies, I thought I was right but wanted to make sure. Like was said, the Fortron, while being great, just doesn't have enough amps on the 12v for SLI because of the split rails.

Agree with the others, the Fortron is great for the price but upgrading to the Powerstream is a good choice.
