View Full Version : Find me a cyber deal on centrifugal fans
I'm building a vent hood for the island in my kitchen and need some centrifugal fans to push air through the duct. I'm looking to put 2 fans in there (for variable airflow), each with around 75-150cfm. In my brief searching, all I have found are fans that cost $75-$100 each.
Sooo...what else can you all find me?

www.mdhydro.com Cheapest place I Know of to get one
checking it out now. Also, to further clarify, I need these to be 115VAC fans
Ouch, 120 bucks for a 4 inch, 172cfm fan!
It's either that or 50 bucks each for 2 squirrel cage fans.
Anybody got some other sites?

Have you checked localy? I would think Home Depot and the like would have something. Or a HVAC place would be a good bet.
not yet. This is my preliminary work. So far, all I have done is purchased some brass sheet metal samples from onlinemetals.com. This thing is gonna be pretty!

usually www.grainger.com is pretty decent, and depending on where you're located, you may be able to pick them up locally and save on shipping.
Everything at grainger is a bit large. The smallest diameter they have for a fan is like 9" and like 500cfm.
Tempting though :p It would be interesting to see my steak get sucked right off of the frying pan while cooking.
can't you just rectify the ac and use a more common and very inexpensive dc fan.

I can use a DC fan, but it still needs to be a high volume centrifugal fan. I need that pressure to push the air through the duct. Plus, if I opted for a DC fan, I would need to also put a DC power supply in the vent hood. This would be less space effecient and less power effecient.
