please share your experiances with 6800gt bios modding

im going to be receiving a stasisthermal C1 cooler for my 6800gt in a couple days and when i get it, i want to try and flash my bios to get a lil more voltage. Im wondering what the best oc/safest methods are to do this? all the guides ive found seem to assume some previous knowledge of bios flashing, which i do not have. are there some good noob guides out there? im also wondering if anyone around here has lost a card to flashing experiments?

well the max i can get out of my card with the thermal stasis cooler is 475/1.3 ... i would say dont worry about bios modding just yet. Try o/cing it first and see how far you can go.

yes i suppose if i hit 450 clocks or something i wont need to flash, but this is a 6800GT were talking about.

yes 6800gt's have oc to or past ultra speed with out needing the bios flashed.

well i got my stasis all installed and damn this thing works great! at stock speed i see a decrease of 20c under load(I did upgrade case cooling a lil while i was in there, but still!) i can get my card to 420 core 1140 mem(not too shabby, i suppose :rolleyes: ). riva tuner test wont let me go higher.
is bios modding really that risky? I think i got some headroom here. at the aformentioned speeds on fresh arctic silver, load temp is 54c, and i still got louder fans to try :p theres got to be some bios modding advice you guys have for me!!

well not really but i dont like modding the bios... but if you did fk it up you could use a plain pci card and reflash your 6800gt... You might want to go do some digging like i did a while back when i had my 6600gt over @www.guru3d.com and check out there forums... lots of info...
