View Full Version : Does anyone know if the eVGA GTX 512 MB card has RAM on the back?

I was planning on getting a full card water cooler (danger dens NV78-sli) and wanted to be sure that the 512MB eVGA card didn't have RAM on the back. From what I can find there are 8 chips on the front of the card....that leads me to believe that there aren't any on the back.
Anyone that has this card or has seen it or atleast seen a pic of it...PLEASE let me know! Thanks a lot!

I dont have an answer for you, but I would suggest either posting on EVGAs forum or calling them, their support is beyond top notch.

OK I think I'll do that.
I decided to buy the eVGA 7800 GTZ KO Edition (2 Actually)
What I thought was that it is rumored that the 7900's are going to come out in March....So I'll wait and try Using eVGA's Step Up Program and get a pair of those...then I'll worry about cooling them at that time....For Now I'll just water my CPU and use the stock air coolers for the vid cards. I think I'll be happy enough for a couple of months (since I'm going from the Rig in my sig to a water cooled/overclocked 4400+ w/ 2GB Ballistix, Raptor 150Gb, WD SE16 400Gb, Dell 2405FPW, yadda yadda.....all housed in a CM Stacker 830) I've ordered everything but the LCD and the water setup. So Yippeee....and I think I'll order the water pretty quick...just want to see if I can fit a 3x120mm Rad inside the Stacker 830 or if I'll have to stick with a 2x120mm
But thanks for the advice about talking to eVGA...I've heard their support is top notch.

sounds like a heck of a setup to me, the difference is going to shock you so you may limit your pc usage to 2 hours at a time to prevent any risk of serious sensory damage.

:) I'll keep that in mind!
all 512mb cards have all the ram on the front side of the card - only the 256mb cards have ram on the back of the PCB

You shouldve considered the ACS3 edition. Read my other post here: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=435652
You wouldve saved yourself a couple hundred bucks by flashing to the KO bios (voltage adjustment and pre-oc core/mem speed changed) on the ACS3 edition card.
Awesome setup by the way. You wont be dissapointed with eVGA performance. I have the same card as you.

I had actually considered the ACS3 version...the reason I went with the KO was for the price. I will be using eVGA's Step up program (Hopefully the 7900's are out in time) and I figured that the price of these cards will make it hurt less when I upgrade.

Hey, whatever makes you feel more comfortable when the 7900's are released. You still have a definite bad ass setup that wont go out of style for quite some time now. I hope I can join you and step up in a few months. I have until March 1st exactly to step up so I hope to god the card is released by then.

I'm on the hoping the 7900 comes out before march bandwagon. I have untill march 8th to use my stepup. Hopefully ati releases their x1900 really soon so Nvidia has to kick it into high gear.
