View Full Version : My watercooled SFF with custom GPU block and modded CPU block

This is my SFF machine with a full internal WC loop. The machine is a sn95g5 that has been modified to hold an ATX 500w psu (stock is a 1u-ish 240w), along with a 3/8" waterloop (cpu & gpu block, bix, and a mcp350). The loop has no kinks (though some of the tubing is a little flat, but thats how it was from being rolled up for a long time) and keeps my system cool and quiet. These are all internal shots, I am not yet finished with the external details.

My hand made gpu block and ram heatspreader

Above shot, you probably cant tell anymore, but that cpu block started out as a mcw6000 block. I moved the center barb to make fitting the psu and waterblock in easier and replaced the copper pipe with real brass barbs.

And one last shot showing everything from a different angle. I used to have a 120mm fan on the back, but took it off to have room to cut that rectangle out. To try to make up for the loss of airflow, I placed a 92mm fan on the rear and a thin zalman fan ontop of the psu to help keep the psu cool. The reason I wanted a hole on the back is so I can run the tubing to an external water chiller I want to try to make to help with summer temps.

Wonderful!

I'm planning - if I get the cash - to make myself a small watercooled machine aswell! :)

temps... well I haven't had the machine fully functional for very long, but with my room probably in the 70's my cpu was sitting at 20c (cpu usage jumping between 40-80%)with the fan @5v, the gpu was 110C. Obviously I have a problem that I should fix soon. One thing I was worried about was a huge performance drop as a result of my mcw6000 modding, but it seems to be working just fine.

superb job there!
but comon you couldn't fit a cd-com in there somewhere? :D :p

Well, I could pull off a cd drive, however it couldnt stay completely inside. The radiator takes up almost the entire front meaning I would have to have the cd drive sit partially external. Between the atx psu and the radiator, I lost a lot of options for cd drive placement, that was fine with me because I was already using an external cd drive.

hehe, yeah I figured you had an external.

here's a thought... would it be possible to adapt a laptop cd drive to have an all in one box setup.

Nice butchering of a shuttel there... Do you have an outter case for it or just run bare?

Thanks, I sure love hacking up my shuttle, unfortunately I dont have much left to remove... I am working on the outside now, so until im done its just going to be naky. This is a picture of what the outside used to look like, but the alu was too thin on the corner and started to tear after heavy use of the handle.

so I did this to it

OK, I have an interesting idea. I moved the hard drive into the faceplate to make room for an optical drive to be mounted half way into the case. Today I bent some acrylic arround the case and thought it would be cool to make a top window/res
