The problem is that my XP takes a while before it stars up...
to be more specifically the
"Starting up windows..." scree (blue welcome screen) takes too long
it just stays there with no hdd activity...
it wasn't like this a few days ago... any suggestions?

X2 3800+ @2.4Ghz
1024 Corsair 3200C2PRO
Western Digital 160Gb SATA 2 drive
thanks in advance

PS: my start-up programs are minima (sygate and rivatuner), services are also kinda minimal...

it could be trying to obtain an IP and taking a long time.
uncheck all startup apps using msconfig and then re-enable them one by one until you find the culprit

i tried.... still same problem...
why obtaining IP? i'm not using dhcp...

Have you scanned for viruses and spyware? could be one of them also do the msconfig thing again and go through the list and see if there is something there your really not sure about and uncheck it i do lol ;)

There wasn't mention of using a static IP in your original post, so I assumed DHCP.

You could try doing a restore to a time when it didn't have this problem.

i played with some services and now everything is fine... wlecome screend is there only for 1 seconds.
SOLVED
thanks

hmmm dunno exactly... i disabled more than one...
