SMB question

hey all... i have a boot CD that'll try connevting to an SMB share on the lan to backup a HD. but i cant figure out how to set up and SMB share on my QinXP machine... is this possible? sorry, but i dont even know what smb is or how it works...

since you're talking about a boot cd, im just going to assume that you're using knoppix or some variant


if thats the case you can use the mount command

ie

mount -t smbfs //ipaddress/sharename /mount/point


theres also a gui frontend for samba, aswell as a gui for searching through smb shares but i forget what its called
