I have two computers, and trying to get these things at 4 GHZ... but i just cant get them stable, CPU temp seems to be low on both averaging around 36-40C for both PC's.

My setting are for PC-1 FSB 225/Memory at 1.1 making it a 3.6GHZ, if I go FSB 237 it makes it a 3.8Ghz and is unstable.. even in sandra benchmarks.

My setting are for PC-2 FSB 225/Memory at 5:4 making it a 3.6GHZ and the memory running at 180MHZ, if I go FSB 237 it makes it a 3.8Ghz and is stable... but if I push to 4.0Ghz it starts windows and reboots

I'm honestly not that knowledgeable with ram timings, VCore, Vdimm and all that stuff... I've raised the VCore up to 1.425 to get 4.0Ghz on PC-2
Also my Cosair Platium Ram doesnt seem to overclock like the value does... I cant even get 205MHZ on the platium.. so I have to run it at 5:4 when overclocking

Both motherboards have the latest Bios

Please give me some help with some good bios settings :bang head for 4GHZ

PC-1 - PC-2
Intel 3.2 540J@3.6 - Intel 3.2 540@3.6
Big Typhoon - Big Typhoon
Asus P5P800 - Asus P5P800
Cosair Value 4x512 - Cosair Platium 4x512
Raptor 74GB - Raptor 74GB
ATI X850XT PE - ATI X800GT

The Ram is the Cosair XMS Series

Anyhow I messed with the timings and put it at 2.7v and still get into windows and it restarts... WinXP does fully loaded, but restarts randomly "usually within 2 minutes"

Here is the P5P800 Bios settings

CPU External Freq (225)
DRAM Freq (400MHZ)
AGP/PCI Freq (66.66/33.33)
CPU VCore Volt (1.425)
DDR Reference Volt (Auto)
AGP VDDQ Volt (1.50V)

Under Memory I have these settings

Config DRAM Timing by Speed (Enable)
Memory Acceleration Mode (Enable)
DRAM Idle Timer (auto)
Dram Refresh Rate (auto)

Thats about it for over clocking settings... I have disabled Spread Spectrum

Can you help me out to configure these settings...

disable MAT.

what are your memory timings set to? your CAS, RAS, and the other values? I had that board but can't remember.

what is MAT, and why disable it?, also my timings is 2.5 4 4 8

one more thing... what do i want to use for a stability test.. i have PCmark05 installed... anything else?

Prime95 Torture Test. Run it twice for hyperthreading processors

Try 3-4-4-8.

MAT = Memory Acceleration Technology.

nope... with those timings it doesnt boot, went back to 2.5 4 4 8... and turned off MAT... what about DRAM Volt and VCore?

your vcore looks to be high enough already. You could try up to 1.5v as long as your temps are fine. I wouldn't go higher than 1.5v on air.

DRAM volt, you can usually go up to 2.85 (max that board allows, i believe) but make sure the ram doesn't get too hot.
