1.4 and Newegg.com

Ok, I burned up a brand new 1.4 athlon the other day, we recieved it about 2 weeks ago with a shipment from newegg. We paid $109 bucks for it (before the nasty XP price jacking). I RMAed it back to Newegg and found out today that the processor is no longer avaliable.. Uh.. yea.. right.. Then how come its still listed on the website? And, on that note, why are there two 1.4s listed and priced differently, yet both OEM? The only difference is that they post the stepping next to the more expensive one. IIRC, there is just the AYHJA stepping for 1.4s. Or did I miss something here? Im thinking they wont let me have a new one cause of the price difference.. Any ideas? This happen to anyone else?

I think this should have been posted in the Vendor gripes section. I certainly feel your pain, but this is a issue w/ a vendor , not a CPU problem.
I would call Newegg and try to get the highest manager you can bitch to get. You still have a 30 day warranty. Good Luck.

Newegg states in their policies that CPU's with steppings listed are subject to an increased price.... not surprising if you ask me. It's why I go to computer shows to get my CPU's, so I can hand-pick steppings without a premium.

Wasnt entirely my fault it burned up. I had the case open and all the fans going, and had an SK6 on it, boom, 66C, dead. Must have been cause the heat came on in the office. Oh well.. We also ended up with a bad batch of parts from newegg with that shippment, so im not surprised. Dead ECS mobo, DOA Duron 950, and a DOA 20Gig Maxtor (wouldnt even turn on). All had to be RMAed. Half on it now on BackOrder for some reason.. Newegg has been good to me untill now. Price gouging cause they post the stepping.. geez.. Now claiming 1.4s dont exist anymore.. grr..

Yea, they will get a piece tomorrow, me wanting my 1.4 back..
