My current set up is:

P4 3.0ghz
2x512 DDR2 corsair ram
160gig hard drive SATA
6600gt BFG OC PCI - E

In games, HL2, CS:S, BF2 ect. I get about 60fps on average at 1024x768, no AA, no AF, high settings, however it will drop to the low 20's if there is alot of action. I have FEAR as well, but can only run this in 800x600 to get playable frame rates in MP. I have been looking at the 6800GS card by XFX, and my question would be would I notice a considerable difference in performance? Any other comments or suggestions welcome.

I think your cpu may hold you back, try overclocking it. Just by looking at your 3dmark 03 score, i also think your cpu is holding back that 6600GT OC, for one, my friends normal 6600GT with no o/c scores like 3K in 3dmark 05, my 6800LE gets 2.6K, my 6800LE gets like 8.5K+ in 3dmark 03, so.. just using that, i'm thinking that p4 is holding you back, and not because it's a p4, but it's clock speed. Try overclocking and see if it makes a noticable difference.

seriously? My actual CPU is a Intel Pentium 4 630 Prescott 800MHz FSB 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775, I can't really see that holding back a 6600gt....the 3d mark score is not acurate for this system, it was an old one. Any others?

dont know too much about pentiums just know the slower ones really bottleneck the video card. I would say get the 6800GS, it is better than the 6600GT, and can generally o/c past Ultra specs, agp's even have the chance of unlocking, and in the event that ur cpu holds back the 6800GS, overclock it a bit and you're good.
