Kudos to my brother for telling me about this stuff. Here was his dilemma, he was running a RAID server, but the case he has doesn't have enough 3 1/2 bays, so he found this stuff, plumber's wrap, plumbers use it when they can't get screws out or something. The plumber's wrap has little holes in intervals that you can mount drives on.

He said he bought two of them and some zip ties, said it came to a total of $6 at Home Depot. He said once you mount the drives on the plumber's wrap, it is rock solid.

I will try to venture out Thursday and get some, and retrieve my digital camera from him so I can do an extensive article on this stuff for this site.

If it's what I'm thinking of it's a steel or plastic strapping (either/or 3/4" wide) generally used to secure pipes against a wall or ceiling. I've used it several times. That is an excellent idea. It's strong (the steel strap is anyway) and it can hold a drive very well. Just be careful how you use it. Of course, zip ties are essential for any number of projects. ;)

Well he used the plastic one I believe.

Can't wait to see what you do with it. The plastic is good too and you can make your own holes in very easily. :) I've been looking for a way to move a couple of things in my case and this sounds like it might work.

Just the thing for adding drive bays. Right now I am looking in my case to see where I might add them. Would certainly help the cable routing when I put my burner in.

Dont't forget the duct tape! Or maybe some of the metal tape that's used on ducts (not to be confused with the grey duct tape that is more plastic like).
