Ipodlinux (http://ipodlinux.org/Installation) is something you should check out. You can play videos, doom 1, or half life 1 on the iPod nano :o

Nothing like a wooden ipod:

Yea... I don't really have the technical skills to do that... don't know if I would want to either even though it looks cool. Plus, it is an iPod MINI so unforunatley that limits my modding a lot.

with the mini and ipl you can convert movies to greyscale and play movies on it saawheeet, I have it on my nano, I wonder if the wood mod would work with the touch pad thingy on a nano?

the touchpad like wheel things actually work off of sensing the capacitance (or lack of?) in your finger. if its thin enough and nonconductive, it works fine. ive had many stickers on the touchpad of my lappy, a sticker with clear packing tape over top (made it really smooth and slippry for a while too) and played with a guitar pick between finger and touchpad, and it still worked. i think the pick was pushing it on thickness, with the sensitivity im used to it would be sporratic, and i had to give some pressure so more of my finger was on the pick like. so i think that a thin laminate type stuff should work, but i would test it before going to all the trouble to find out for sure

Wow a linux for iPod *.* I would actually now buy one, just so I can have linux on there.

Guy playing half life 1 on his iPod nano (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1867155040270429847).

iDoom (http://idoom.hyarion.com/) is what you need to run it.

Here's everything compatible (http://ipodlinux.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4984)

You could always hook up your ipod to your sound system in your car. Mine is hooked up to my pioneer deck, I use the remote control to browse through all the CD's on it...very convenient not having to change out CD's anymore

I already have an iTrip so its all good!

P.S. I tried iPod Linux last night and it didn't work so I did some more troubleshooting this morning but it was to no avail. :bang head I'll try some more when I get time tomorrow or soomething.

It's so sweet, I got it working on my nano last night. I can watch videos, play doom, and still listen to my music (though you have to format your ipod first if you plan to install ipod linux). The beauty of it is that you dual boot with the original apple software and can boot to linux by holding the rewind button. I broke it out in my digital media class today to show my professor a remake of Quake in the iDoom engine, he thought it was cool but complained about the controls.
