... that I just went out and bought a new computer.
I just got a new ECS mobo, with Duron processor. I will by folding by later this evening. This one will be dedicated almost fully to folding, for now.
Has anyone else gone out and purchased more stuff to Fold?
Tell us about it!:)
WTG Flounder! :D It looks like this folding thing is getting contagious.
Haven't bought specifically for folding for at least a month. ;) I'm wantiing a duallie AMD real bad, but waiting for new MB mfg's to jump on board.

Sorry just want a response(being imaptient right now but i'm watching the world series and the D-Backs are losing:mad:   ) You can read my thread here (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?threadid=43684) if you want to.
Right on man. With this kind of dedication we will be back in first place in no time. And as a bonus you have a new rig to overclock:D

Ok, I am up and folding. :)
If I am not mistaken, it looks like we have turned the tide, and are starting to catch up to the Aussies!!!
My friend, fightingpiper, also bought parts and will have a new folder up in a few days...

Just bought the Mobo and Duron 800 today. Loading windows now will be folding within the hour. Or less :) I just had to put down $150 for mobo processor and mem.
I have one more KVM spot open maybe another 1ghz system later next month.
Keep folding!
I'm upgrading my mobo, so I'll be sticking a duron in there. A little later, I might get an ECS/Duron combo, as they run under $100. I need to figure out how to hide folding boxes from parents. ;)
And for those who don't know, a KVM switch or extra monitors aren't necessary. Use VNC (http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/), it lets you remotely control a computer over a network. No keyboard, mouse, monitor needed at the folding-only box.
$385 rent
$15 power
$30 phone
$400 car payment
$377 credit card bill
$600 car insurance
grand total $1807 this month in bills.
i dont think i'll be getting a new computer for a long time.

Just waiting for my HSF to be returned from an RMA and I'll have a new ECS/Duron folder.
Flounder - Nice work. Keep those computers coming ;)
sfa - Run the wires out your window and mount the mobo on the side of your house. Just bring it in when it rains / snows
ebola - Sell the car, buy a moped. Think of the money saved in gas alone ! :D That would be $400+ a month for folding...:D
Seriously guys, nice work here. We are doing well and this is meaningful work and fun.

DB, you got the Duron/ECS thing too, aye? It is a nice, cheap system to build.
Also with regard to ebola, well, I am from Minnesota and I don't think that a moped would work very well in Fargo, unless you could put chains on the tires... ;)
Nice work, all.

I am getting 50 Celeron 800mhz working in the Calvin.edu IT Library running folding@home 24/7. They will definetly be running it, i just have to get the little 32 sneaked in on the config.
Calvin.edu will battle Sromlo High@!!!!!!!!!!!!
driving a moped between fargo and minneapolis when its 30 below zero out with 60 mph winds trying to keep up with 80 mph traffic. not a good idea.

Gents,
As flounder43 stated, I'm also building a system primarily for folding-I had an 800 Duron and ECS mobo without anything to do(am waiting for my crucial memory and newegg HD to arrive). I bought a new HD because I couldn't find a small one cheap enough unless any of you have an old 1-2 gig HD lying around that you would want to donate to the folding cause and I'll return the new one. This will be my fourth computer folding.
1)Athlon XP 1800, K7T266pro-RU, 256 DDR
2)500 Mhz K62 laptop, 198 RAM
3)300 Mhz K62 HP, 198 RAM-pretty slow at folding
4)800 Duron, ECS K7S5A, 256 DDR-soon to be up
FOLD ON!!!!!!!:D

I have 2 power supplies, and video cards on order. They are for 2 1.2 AMD systems that are going to be gifts for my brother and mom. They will both be folding as soon as they are done, at least til Christmas, but Im going to ask both to keep it running on the computer 24/7.
As for our production-as of right now 6:00am we are outfolding them 1813 to 1596. Keep up the great work guys.
Fold on brothers...

Well I just orderd a XP1600 motherboard HDs memory and other such items I needed. Now I have bought two systems for folding I must be stupid
Well for $500 I will have another 1.4Ghz system. Not bad I think. The shipping kills me but then I have to have it this week LOL I always need it NOW! (Hope I can get 1.7Ghz easy with it)
Anyway I will let someone else buy the next new system ;)

No no :)
Mobo/Processor 512MB memory two 20gig for Raid0 DVD CD-RW 2 120mm fans 2 80mm fans It was over 500 but not a lot. i had case and KVM to put it on at the house.
Here in west by god Virginia (WV) ;) Sams clubs has 1Ghz intel systems for around 500 with monitor. Emachines
Once again, if you're like me and aren't going to do anything other than folding on these computers, use VNC! It'll save you $$$$$$!

VNC works great for monitoring and controlling systems that are running fine. I also have an A/B switch but want a good KVM for several machines so that I don't have to unhook/hook my monitor when the machines need reboot or some more serious maintenance. I think that's what killed my last video card.
Looks good from here. :) WTG on the upgrades/added boxes. We are really cranking them out for our team size.

sfa ok,
thanks for the info on VNC it will definitely save some money when my stuff arrives form crucial and newegg! Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow while my girlfriend is at work so I can hide it form her. She would go nuts if she found out I was building another computer-especially since I'm a poor student barely making my house payment. I guess u gotta have priorities and this overclocking and folding is pretty darn fun.
Cheers

Very true you dont need a KVM but I had one so I used it :) And with Foldmonitor working I can watch the progress on the systems until one sends the data then it will hang :( Oh well
I hope they send it today!!!!!
On a bad note my Cable service was out last night missed a few WU am sure I hope its back up by now!

Well you'd have to overclock the moped of course. That's going to generate some extra heat, wo just put the radiator on the handlebars with the fans blowing back. Should keep the overclocked scootr nice and cool, and you nice and toasty. :D
