my board has dual cpus and there are capacitors right next to the socket a's etc. so are there better heatsinks than the pep66's im using? they cannot be more than 5 mil. bigger than the socket in all directions it looks like. its a tyan thunderboard scsi.

my cpu's are running at 46c. idle and 47 under light load and 53 under maximum load. the ambient case temp is 40c. are better heatsinks what i need or better case cooling? there is a lot of hot stuff in this case and it has 2 80mm fans in back plus 2 psu fans. 2 80mm fans in front plus hd coolers and video cooler.

i was also wondering, i just read a post here about psu's being underpowered is dangerous. mine is 450 watt. but, it runs 2 cpu's 2 scsi drives. a cd rom, a cd burner, a dvd burner. plus 2 pro audio pci cards, some usb items a geforce3. and all the fans. is this psu big enough? the system is only oc'd 1.53>1.622.

thank you,
sendatooli.

Maybe a SK6 will fit,
Technical Spec:
Dimension: L64 x W72 x H31.6 (mm) -- Top
L64 x W64 x H31.6 (mm) -- Bottom
Weight: 330g

Its V-shaped so unless the capacitors are real tall it might clear them.

The HSF I use seems to be pretty small. 2.5"x2.5" is what the specs say on my sheet. It doesn't hang off very far and it does a really good job at cooling my CPU. My temps are: CPU- 34/35 idle 39full load, case-22-26. I have one side open due to a distorted panel making nasty vibrations, tho. It's also not that noisy, which I like.
I don't have any experience with your board, so I'm not sure if it would fit, but I'd say it'd be worth your time to look into! I think it might work.

the new antec HSF is supposed to be good, and its small also

Check on the front page for a good listing of hsfs. I have really liked my Glaciator, and it doens't have much overhang, either. :)

Yeah, I'd say golden gate's, FOP38, SK6, or PAL6035 would probably all be good. The SK6 performs best out of all of them, I have one, as well as the new Alpha 8045.
