I am running an asus p5nd2-sli mobo with 2 6600gt's in sli, 1 gig of kingston valueram, and a Pentium 4 530 3.0 ghz. The ram is ddr2 @ 533 mhz, I am getting very poor performance out of this machine. Right now I am running the memory in dual channel @ 4-3-3-10, according to cpu-z the freq on the memory is 133.3 and the fsb:dram is 3:2. I feel that this machine should run alot better than it does, I am only getting about 20fps in Far Cry @ 800x600 with medium detail settings. Suggestions please.

my best bet would be that the 1gig of ram is whats killing you. i love my logitech g15 keyboard cuz while i am playing a game the lcd tells me how much ram i am using. playing bf2 with a 7800gt and 1gb of ram i was using 99% of 1 gig and the game was almost unplayable. and you have 2 6600's with only 1gig. id say you need more ram.

I would also speculate that it's the RAM that's killing you, not the size, but the timings and how they're configured. I play FarCry with a 68GT and 1gb RAM, and I get great framerates at maxed out settings.

If I were you, I'd try to borrow some better RAM.

What's the clock on the FSB for your processor? Sorry, I'm an AMD guy.

800 mhz fsb and 3.0 ghz on the cpu. I will look into getting more memory does it need to be Kingston valueram, to match with the other 2 dimms? Can you point me in the right direction for adjusting my timings? I know how to adjust them but I don't know what values to start with.

how about drivers? how does it play with only 1 card? heat? do other games play that slow?

it could be ram but unless theyre defective i dont think it should bring it down that much.
