How do you check your PSU temperature?

Would I need to install a temperature probe? If so how to do so? I want to connect it to the motherboard or something so I can view it from my operating system. Or have MBM5 check it for me.

I have an AX500-A Fortron Bluestorm.

I want to replace it with a quieter fan connecting to a controller, adjusting the speed when it gets hot or cooler.

Thanks in advance

I taped a probe to the PSU case. Not perfect, but good enough.

where did you get the temperature probe, how did you install it?

I don't know how to interface the probe to the mobo, except by removing the thermistor found under the CPU in some mobos and wiring the probe in place. So I use an all-hardware solution, consisting of a thermistor and a comparator mounted inside the PSU to shut it off if it gets too hot.
