Ok guys what card will run games better, the x1800xl or the 7800GT? I have heard mixed answers to this. I just want an over all answer :). Would be interested to know how they oc and if the XL is worth the extra money.

With no overclocking, the 7800GT is faster, get that.

currently according to the tests nvdia from the 6800 up to 7800gtx all beat their counterpart in ati.

i'm certain the X800's beat the 6800's? like an X850XT PE will beat a 6800 Ultra. 7 Series however is in the lead vs the X1000's atm, maybe newer ATi drivers will change this.

actually the X850XT PE wastes the 6800 ultra, the 6800Ultra is on par with the X800 XT

Also need to remember, OpenGL benchmarks (Doom 3, Quake 4, etc) will favour nVidia, Direct 3D will favour ATi.

The EVGA 7800gt's overclock pretty well to. SHould be easily oc able to 8000 3dmark05 with a fast computer.

Thanks for quick answers. Looks like I will be picking up a GT tomorrow. If I get a little extra money I will pick up a second one later
